Walking through the woods on an autumn day
vines and weeds covering the old dead wood
crackling underfoot.
The mud of the earth sticks to my sandals and toes still warm from summer.
What am I looking for?
Signs of life or of death buried here.
Signs of something more than ordinary.
A lee where dragons lay perhaps
A cache of fairies burning firefly oil to light the evenings fading light
A secret door to another realm hiding amongst the shadows
Even a lonely single flower blooming through the old debris
Shadow to light twinkling glitter of promises
You are here
I feel you near
Angel of sanity keeping me safe from harm
folding me in your angel wings
I close my eyes and see
all the spirits mingling near.
walking in this autumn woods
in the light and the dark of shadows
I open my eyes and see you my friend,
seeking the same as I
believing in Miracles that lay at our feet.
Walking through these quiet woods
full of ghosts whispering our names.

Morning meditation
Quietly the insects flew from flower to flower, birds just minding their nests in silence, snakes resting in the grass on the wet earth. Even the rooster did not wake me today. I stood. Squinting me eyes in the morning sun I noticed the absence of noise. The air was even silent today, I inhaled the damp dew suspended in the air. Prayerful pose I said my greetings to the universe in a whisper. Blowing out as a kiss to the south I say "I Love you my brothers, what can I do for you today"? And to the west I breath in the arid air, the hot air, the breath of Coyote howling her firery intents. I raise my arms to the north to see vulture high above riding the thermals, staying aloft in the heavens. While east, my ancestors smile and join in as I light the sage, the smoke of purity. Father sky sends down the power as I stand upon the dirt of life. Root myself to the center of time and place, the here and now. I light up my soul and begin again.

In the clearing
Just a dog in the clearing
sniffs the air and runs like the wind
Just a little thing but faster than the sun
she runs
Suddenly stopping she turns and sees us
seeing our shadows shimmering in the
other place. She cocks her head.
Our tears falling as she rolls in the long grass,
Our tears falling as she chases a dragon fly,
Our tears falling as she nuzzles new friends,
Our tears, not hers.
She barks a greeting, then says goodbye.

Protector The Raven
As Lily crunched the old stalks of corn with her boots she was thinking only of her breath and the sound of her walking. In those moments there was no other sound. No birds were singing, no squirrels chattering, there was no sounds of tires on the nearby gravel road. The sound of her heartbeat was loud in this silence. Steady and slow, she wondered why her heartbeat was so slow. She had been walking all morning shouldn't her heart be beating faster? beat, one one thousand two one thousand she counted, beat... pause, beat... pause beat... breathe. What was that? It sounded like the flap of birds wings, there were no birds that she could see. Then the sound of wind came powerfully to her in a rhythmic beat mirroring her heart. Scanning the sky she saw the magnificent creature making this sound. His wings were as black as coal and as shining as the sun. His beak was long and sharp she was sure he could kill her before she could take her next breath. She stood as still as she could and waited. She noticed his talons. In his talons he carried Lily's rattle! "But I haven't made it yet" she cried out. Steely gray eyes stared at her and he laid the rattle at Lily's right hand. "Lily I am bringing your rattle to you, you will need it soon". As she picked up the rattle she felt a wave of energy travel up her arm and into her heart. She rattled to the four directions asking for guidance, she rattled to the father sky and mother earth for life and stamina, she rattled for her own soul to see herself as a warrior. Lily knew there was a battle ahead, she could feel the darkness in the air, she could feel the cold breeze begin to blow. Snow begin to fall and light began to fade. Lily spoke "Crow, will you find me shelter for the night"? "I don't think I can go home."
Without saying a word he began to walk toward the west and the setting sun. I hope it's not too far Lily thought as she followed him, I am very tired. Crow then began to run. Faster and faster he ran then opened his wings and pushed the air from around his body and rose into the sky. Lily watched him leave, she didn't try to stop him or yell at him to stay, she wasn't even surprised. She wondered how far she had walked that day, maybe she should just go home. Home to normal, home to sameness. She knew she could go back as if nothing had happened that day. She knew she could forget what crow had said. And she als knew that she would never be happy again if she did go back. So she went on. She had only started out that morning to give a gift to tree spirit. She was just going to visit the old tree by the creek. "What is this journey that I am on she wondered, and just what was she looking for anyway?

Journey of light
Journey of Light
I walk among Angels, Animals and Guides
to bring only blessings and light
I walk in the darkness
to find a piece of lost soul.
I walk in the Mud of the Earth
with rivers flowing through my legs
to bring you wholeness.
I walk this earth to find answers
to calm your mind.
I fly to the heavens to catch a glimpse
of forever.
to bring the light.
I touch your body lightly to heal your pain.
letting the energy flow through.
For as you are healed so am I
Our oneness in being stops time
Then our spirit heals.

Shapeshifter
Have you come watcher to tame my soul?
I come flying in between the wind and your breath on the blood red horse.
Can you see that moment not now not then?
I am a red beacon so you may see me, calling all who will come.....
come to me I call, I am surrounded by white fire turning to ash those with a dead soul.
Soothe my Spirit?
no watcher you are to join me in the battle
You are my guide.

Envisioning my rattle
"I have given you my name" cried Lily to the wind. It was a very bold thing for her to do because in your name is the secret of your power. She had been waiting to say it aloud and now Raven had told her to say it this once. Lily was traveling with Wolf and Raven across the field of freshly cut hay. The smell of fall and fires and damp earth hung in the air. She bent down to pick up a clump of dirt thinking to herself that it was harder than she thought to hike through the field. The big old tree she was hoping to see seemed a long way off right now, she could see it in the distance, just a gnarled mass of branches. There were dozens of smaller trees closer to her but Lily needed only to see the oldest one, the one who had given her this name. As the dirt in her hand crumbled to the earth she looked up and saw a figure standing before her. It appeared to be a man by the angular shape of his jaw, she couldn't make out his features as he was covered in shadow. He had a feathers sticking up along the back of his head. With his right hand he reached up and plucked a feather from the band. With his left hand he gestured to the land around them. As he swept his hand over his heart Lily could see all kinds of small animals appear in the field. There were racoons, mice, rabbits and even some birds. The stranger said "Lily, come here, I have heard one of your names" As he called out to her in her new name she became a mist, a cloud. She could see herself as a white shadow woman. She could move over the fields without touching the ground. "What is happening" she asked. He did not answer her he just remained standing and silent. Feeling a little scared she asked "Am I a ghost?" She wondered if this was a portent of her death. She asked in a louder voice, wanting to know even it was a warning of what was to come. "Am I a ghost?" Again, he did not move, he did not speak. Thinking now that she was in middle world she asked for the third time "Tell me sir, am I a spirit? Slow steady drumbeats drifted into her hearing and a voice said to her " You are their spirit guide as they are yours, this is your land, this is your place care for it well. Shadow man took out a rattle and began to shake it. It was a fine beautiful rattle made of nuts and feathers and copper and turquoise. He showed her a rattle dance first hopping on one foot 3 times, then the other foot 3 times. White shadow and Black shadow then danced. As the drums and rattling faded so did the dark spirit, so did Lily return to her normal body and resumed her walk to the tree. Smiling she said to herself. Mother tree I come with gifts. Thank you
